Marathon Training - Week 4

After a 7 day running hiatus due to work traveling and laziness of vacation, I am trying to pick back up and stay on target. I have managed to complete 12 miles in 2 days. I rule.

I am well aware that it is impossible for me to complete ALL of the runs laid out in the schedule. However, it is my personal goal this time around not to miss any of the long runs. I've done well so far.

I took a nice look at my running shoes today because I thought I had a rock stuck on the bottom of them but to my horror, discovered, almost all the tread is worn down! Ugh.... I knew this day would come.

Just a quick rant about running shoes. When I first started running, I loved new shoes. It felt like a new beginning. These shiny, pretty, in tact shoes were a proud accessory on my feet. Well, as my miles started racking up, I've found that those shiny new shoes take some getting used to and result in a personal fight between the stubbornness of my feet and the unruliness of the shoes to comply to being continuously beat on pavement, resulting in some form of mild pain in my foot. However, after so many miles, the shoes become tattered and dirty, but begin to feel like an old comforting old friend that you know would never do you no harm.

The moral of my story is that I don't feel like going to the shoe store, pretending that I'm interested in seeing 8 different styles by prancing around the store like a moron, then shoveling out a ~$120 only to have a blister a week later. I think I'll try online ordering this time and at least avoid the first part.

Alright that's enough for now. I need food.
