Marathon Training - Week 1

Well, I'm halfway through the first week of marathon training! I finished a cross training day, a 3 mile run and a 5 mile run.

My muscles got a little stiff toward the end of today's 5 mile run....

More interesting story was I finished 3 miles and was decently close to my house. I looked up and there was a pretty daunting rain cloud in the distance and I wasn't sure I would be able to finish the 2 miles before it started to pour. Not as concerned with getting wet as I was destroying my iPod. However, I figured I would give it a try and hope for the best.

Anyway, finished the run with maybe only a sprinkle and stretched outside for another 5 minutes...

Not one minute after I get inside, freaking sirens start blaring, my phone goes nuts with text only to find out there's a tornado warning for the akron. I look out my window and its quite literally pitch black and down pouring.

All I can say is I'm glad I decided not to walk that last mile. Ha! It's still looking pretty bad outside...but I think the warning expired. Hopefully this la nina passes by so the rest of the summer isn't this bad.

As for the run itself, I was pretty sore toward the end and it felt like muscles were cramping up. Probably have to stretch pretty hard tomorrow.
